"... and on the either side of the river was there the tree of life, which bore twelve kinds of fruit, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations."Revelation 22.2

Advocacy, Partnership and Networking

CHAK has evolved into a credible voice of the faith based health sector in Kenya and Africa. Through our approach of nurturing strategic partnerships, value based interactions and evidence based advocacy, CHAK has continued to grow its organizational image in the health sector.

At the national level, CHAK continues to play a key role in providing leadership to Faith Based Health Services Coordinating Committee (FBHSCC) which coordinates joint FBOs engagement on matters of common interest.

The key players in the health sector in Kenya include;

  • State represented by National Government-MOH, County Governement Health Departments and Health Sector Regulators
  • Non-State which includes FBOs, NGOs, Private sector, Academic and Research Institutions
  • External Actors who include Development Partners, International Agencies and Technical partners.

CHAK utilizes its’ knowledge of the health sector and the recognition in Kenya to coordinate and lead advocacy for its member health units and other faith based health service providers. CHAK coordinates articulation of needs and issues from member health facilities for advocacy and engagement of the other stakeholders and pursues strategic advocacy for recognition, inclusion, action and support. County Governments have a key role in health services management and delivery in the devolved health system in Kenya. CHAK has developed a County Engagement Strategy to guide advocacy and engagement with counties. In order to formalize partnership with County Governments, CHAK will pursue a strategy of developing and negotiating an MoU with County Governments.

CHAK maintains strategic partnerships with other key stakeholders in the health sector in Kenya including membership to network organizations in the private sector and civil society and FBOs. Our presence in the Health Sector coordination structures and technical working groups has been strategic and effective hence this strategy will be maintained. As a leader in the FBO health sector in Kenya CHAK facilitates support for the Faith Based Health Services Coordinating Committee and ACHAP Secretariat and maintains active membership with WCC, EPN and CCIH for advocacy, networking and partnership engagement opportunities at the international level
