CHAK INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME
The Christian Health Association of Kenya (CHAK) supports health workforce development in Kenya through quality internship training within accredited faith-based health facilities.
CHAK works in partnership with the Ministry of Health, professional regulatory bodies, universities and other training institutions, county governments and CHAK member health facilities to provide structured internship opportunities for health professionals.
The CHAK Internship Programme provides interns with practical experience, supervised training, mentorship and professional development in supportive learning environments while promoting professionalism, ethical practice, patient-centred care and Christian values.
Health Cadres
The CHAK Internship Programme supports internship training across the following health cadres, subject to the accreditation and requirements of the relevant professional regulatory bodies:
- Medical Officers
- Clinical Officers
- Nursing Officers
- Pharmacy Interns
- Dental Officers
- Nutrition and Dietetics Interns
- Public Health Officers
- Medical Laboratory Officers/Scientists
INTERNSHIP ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Medical Officer Internship
Regulatory Body: Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC)
Entry Requirements
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from an accredited institution.
- Valid internship licence from KMPDC.
- Foreign-trained graduates must pass the KMPDC internship qualifying examination.
- Internship duration: 12 months.

Clinical Officer Internship
Regulatory Body: Clinical Officers Council (COC)
Entry Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Clinical Medicine or Diploma in Clinical Medicine from an accredited institution.
- Valid provisional registration/internship licence from COC.
- Internship duration: 1 year.

Nursing Officer Internship
Regulatory Body: Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK)
Entry Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) from an accredited institution.
- Valid internship authorisation from NCK.
- Internship duration: 12 months.

Pharmacy Internship
Regulatory Body: Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB)
Entry Requirements
- Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited institution.
- Valid internship authorisation from PPB.
- Internship duration: 12 months or as prescribed by PPB.

Dental Officer Internship

- Internship duration as prescribed by KMLTTB.

CHAK provides internship training opportunities through affiliated health facilities that meet the accreditation requirements of the relevant professional regulatory bodies.
Internship accreditation is cadre-specific and depends on approval by the respective regulatory body.
With internship training available across CHAK’s network of member facilities, applicants can access opportunities in different regions of the country.
YOUR INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE
CHAK internship programmes provide a structured learning environment where interns gain practical experience through supervised training, departmental rotations, mentorship, Continuous Medical Education (CME) and regular performance assessment.
Interns are expected to maintain professional standards, complete their logbooks and comply with the policies of their internship training facility.
