RMNCAH Training Session

Through a three-year grant, the Christian Health Association of Kenya (CHAK), in collaboration with the Ecumenical Pharmaceutical Network (EPN), is implementing the Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) Project to contribute to the reduction of maternal and neonatal mortality in Kenya.

The project focuses on expanding access to high-impact maternal, newborn and child health interventions, quality-assured health products and innovative technologies within the faith-based health sector.

Capacity Building for Quality MNCH Care

Build capacity of health care workers to align practices and interventions for PPH and neonatal care with the national MNCH guidelines to reduce the risk of maternal and neonatal morbidities and mortalities.

Advocacy for MNCH Investment in Faith-Based Health Services

Advocate for investment in high impact MNCH
interventions and products in FBO health services

In 2025, the project trained 202 healthcare workers in Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (EmONC) and 54 providers in Comprehensive Newborn Care (ETAT+).

22 high-volume hospitals received CPAP devices, supporting 190 premature newborns, with a reported 97.4% survival rate during the reporting period.

The project also trained 98 pharmacy staff to strengthen commodity and inventory management.

The project supports the adoption of evidence-based innovations, including calibrated blood-loss measurement drapes, Heat Stable Carbetocin (HSC), and CPAP technology, alongside clinical training and mentorship.
