CHAK is a key player in Medical Officer internship training in Kenya. The medical internship programme is carried out in partnership with the Ministry of Health through the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council, university medical schools and accredited hospitals.
Institutions of higher learning participating in the CHAK Medical Officer Internship Programme are University of Nairobi (UON), Kenyatta University (KU), Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), Kenya Methodist University (KEMU), Egerton University, Maseno University, Moi University, Mt Kenya University, Kisii University, Uzima University, Masinde Muliro University.
CHAK member hospitals accredited by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council to provide Medical Officer Internship are:
1. AGC Tenwek Hospital - Bomet County
2. AIC Litein Hospital - Kericho County
3. AIC Kijabe Hospital - Kiambu County
4. PCEA Kikuyu Hospital - Kiambu County
5. PCEA Tumutumu Hospital - Nyeri County
6. PCEA Chogoria Hospital - Tharaka Nithi County
7. Maua Methodist Hospital - Meru County
CHAK Medical Officer Internship process
1. Student sensitization,which can be in-person/virtual.
2. Interested students send their application forms to CHAK, stating their two preferred internship centers.
3. CHAK internship centers conduct interviews for the selected candidates at the specific universities.
4. Each hospital shares a list of successful candidates with CHAK for forwarding to KMPDC
5. KMPDC approves the list and posts the candidates
